Viral Marketing - The Lazy Way to Riches
Viral marketing is the secret weapon of many huge companies. It didn't start with the internet but the technology the internet provides, makes viral marketing easier than ever before.Let's look at a few examples of internet companies that have viral marketing to thank for their success. You've probably heard of big empires like Hotmail.com or Ebay.com. Well, in the early days of their beginnings, they were small but they used viral marketing to quickly rise up the ranks to super status in a short amount of time.
Hotmail.com was able to lever viral marketing by one clever little tactic. They would offer a free email account to anyone (free is on of the keys to sucking people in like a vacuum). Then in the new users email reading something to the effect of, "Get a free hotmail email account. Click here!"
So this way, Hotmails users were spreading the word about this new Hotmail free service. The viral effect went into action and the web site traffic stats multiplied. If it's more web site traffic everyday that yous are looking for, then this is proof that viral marketing works.
Using this kind of viral strategy in your own marketing can pay off big time. It may take a little effort on your part at the beginning to set it in motion but when it is on motion, it will virally spread and be hard to stop. But why would you?
I've just touched on a little of what viral marketing is about. But the idea of viral marketing is that you have other people doing the marketing (spreading the word) for you. This makes your job a whole lot easier.
