Stu Sensei teaches: How to Run an Internet Business

Hi readers. Stuart Stirling here...but today you can call me "Stu Sensei".

Sounds pretty cool, huh? I might start doing these email lessons as "Stu Sensei" more often ;) Afterall, it's fitting as I do live in Japan...

Today's email is a little different, so get ready to take 5 minutes to read it (you might want to grab a mug of your favorite brew too)

Marketing School with Stu Sensei!

==============================================

First let me ask you a couple of easy questions.

#1 Do you know the basic principles of business?

#2 Do you know how sell and deliver a product online?

#3 Do you know how to get web visitors to see your offer?

#4 Do you know how to grow your business?

===============================================

Ok, so let's look at the answer to the first question.

In my short 2 year career, I have learned some of what makes a business profitable and what makes a business unprofitable.

The 3 main elements of a business are:

1) You must have a product or service you sell
2) You need a killer offer (USP-Unique Selling Proposition)
3) You need a means to get paid and then deliver
the product or service to the customer

That's basically it. Pretty simple right?

Other basic principles (or ethics) to take note of are:

**Customer service with a smile goes a very long way.
**Under-promising and Over-delivering goes even further.

-----------------------------

Ok, next question.

Selling and delivering a product online is where a lot of people lose the plot and give up.

Basically, the driving tool to showcase and sell your product or service online is a WEBSITE.

You website should present your product the best you (or your copywriter) can. You list the features and benefits, and finally give instructions on how to order it.

You need some sort of payment processing merchant account to take credit card orders etc. online.

Paypal.com is the top choice for many online business owners as it's like an online bank and merchant account in one.

After your customer goes through the order process, they need to be able to download or sign up for access to your product.

All payment processing websites like Paypal can forward your customer to the "download page" so specify so that's that taken care of.

-------------------------------------

Next part, ready?

Once you have your online "store front" ready to take orders, you now need TRAFFIC!

The best advice I can give for traffic generation is this: USE THE RIGHT BAIT IN THE RIGHT LAKE!

In other words, you need seek out where those people who want your product are hanging out and don't waste your time anywhere else.

If people are looking for what you sell on ebay.

- Advertise it on ebay.

If people are searching Google for what you are selling.

- Get your website ranking high in Google with SEO (search engine optimization).

And so on.

Don't buy a bunch of leads just because you think 10,000,000 random email addresses for $100 is a bargain.

Seek out where YOUR target market spends time online and go get them!

----------------------------------

And, finally...

For real success, we need to have a long term vision for our business. We need to be in it for the long shot.

People go on about "you gotta have a plan" and that's true I guess, but I never really understand what they mean.

To me, the plan is to grow your business bigger and bigger. Which means thinking ahead, of the big picture and constantly thinking and creating new products and offers to fit your customers needs.

-------------------------

So that's this week's lesson with Stu Sensei.

What did you think?

I'd love to hear your comments so please hit the reply button or leave a comment on my blog.

Stu "Sensei" Stirling

Free Report: Web Copywriting Secrets

If I was to pin point one skill that has made all the difference in my online marketing career, I would have to say it's "copywriting".

Please don't get confused with copyrighting. Copy writing is the art of writing ads. Or as some people say, "salesmanship in print".

You might not even realize it but you are writing copy everyday.
  • Every time you write an email to send an offer to your list, it's copywriting.
  • Everytime you make a blog post with the intention for your readers to click off and see an offer you recommend, it's copywriting.
  • Making a video with a script to sell something that you will use on your website or upload to youtube? It's copywriting!
Copywriting affects every aspect of our marketing so it's vital to be constantly improving our copywriting skills.

FREE DOWNLOAD

I have just finished putting together a short report (29 pages) called "Secrets of Writing Web Copy That Sells" and I'm letting my readers have it for free!

Click here to request your free download!

It goes over all the basics of writing copy for the web. From sales letter headlines to outsourcing your copywriting work.

Enjoy and tell me what you think!

Getting CLoser To That 4 Hour Work Week

Does the 4 hour work week allure you?

This week for me has been as close to a 4 hour work week as I've ever had.

I had friends over from Australia on holidays all this week so I was their "tour guide" as we were enjoying the local cuisine and night life.

I was using the time in the mornings to take care of my online business.

The funny thing was, I was still able to get a lot of productive work done and still see profits roll in, just like usual!

I have the internet to thank for that. It stays open even while I'm away from my desk.

I have my automatic sales systems in place that generate traffic, which lead to orders, all on autopilot.

This is truly the best "hands-off" business to be in, and I was really able to appreciate it this week.

The lessons you can learn from this are...

** Set up many traffic and sales funnels that work on autopilot.

You can do this via squeeze pages, tell-a-friend scripts, auto-responders (my life saver) and affiliate programs for products you sell.

** Organize your time, no matter how short you have, to do all the necessary "house-keeping" jobs for the day out of the way.

Answer support emails, update your blog, write and submit an article, approach some marketers for a JV, work on a product, etc.

** Carefully plan for the future.

Perfect your sales funnel. No loose ends! Write a good auto-responder sequence. Direct freebie seekers to become customers, offer an upsell to existing customers, treat customers with freebies from time to time.

There are more I want to share with you but I have to head out the door now..I've done my 2 hours for today anyway!

One last thing I want you to check out though is one of my first ever products that still sells like hot cakes even today.

** Discover how to crush your job in 90 days...

Get this and start on your way to enjoying a 4 hour work week!

Enjoy your weekend!
