The most critical aspect of affiliate marketing is promotion. Or in other words, advertising. Many affiliate marketers fail in this aspect because they lack the initiative to work hard to get the 'right type' of qualified visitors to see their offers and take action.
Unfortunately, affiliate marketing isn't as simple as sending just any old type of web surfers to a sales page and hoping for the best.
If you want to earn big commissions, you have to invest time and hard work to promote your products the 'right way'.
As earlier mentioned, the competition is very high and customers nowadays are wiser than ever. They are used to seeing amazing offers and compelling sales pages. They are after the best offer possible and they will be very selective about it. After all, who doesn't want to get the best purchase!
The biggest part of the preparation is doing market research.
You must research your target niche market.
What are they buying right now?
Where do they hang out?
What products are available?
Is it a lasting market/product or just a fad?
Good ways to research a potential affiliate program you are considering promoting is by joining affiliate marketing forums, comparing different affiliate programs and reading articles about affiliate marketing.
These days affiliate commissions can be very high, especially for digital info products such as ebooks. 100% commission affiliate programs are not uncommon with lower priced products. These lower priced products are usually easier to sell and affiliates love them because they get paid 100% of the sale and usually instantly into their Paypal account.
This way you can get info and tips from experienced affiliate marketers on how to choose the best merchants and products with highest converting products for your chosen niche market.
If at first you don't succeed, keep on trying! Don't get disappointed if your first attempts at affiliate marketing do not pay off.
Thousands are attracted by the possibility of generating sky-rocketing incomes through affiliate marketing and so they sign up for any old affiliate program without carefully understanding anything about the offer, the market, how to market to that niche market or how to market in general.
When they don't get instant results with one affiliate program, they throw that one to the side and sign up for another program! I'm sure you do not want to be one that gives up so easily!
Keep persevering, don't give up, and you will start to make money.
Send more traffic, learn more about your market and promote like a maniac!

It's been a wet start to the week here in Fukushima Japan. Luckily I don't work outside digging holes :)
You'd have to agree that f.ree website traffic can't be beaten. For a long time, sites like Squidoo.com was high on everyone's list as one of the BEST free resources for traffic.
Well, in late 2007, a new kid came on the block.
It's called Hubpages.com Right now its in everyone's bookmarks as the new Squidoo. I discovered Hubpages late last year and made a few hub pages for a niche website of mine.
The results were VERY eye-brow raising!
I had a TOP 10 position for my number 1 keyword and other front page listings for other keywords....within 2 days!
The keywords didn't have much competition (which is good) but considering that it took me LESS than 1 hour to build my hub pages, it was quick, easy traffic...and targeted :)

River IQ Test - Increase Your Marketing Mind Power
Ok, this is just for a bit of fun. I actually love these types of little quizzes because they're great mind expanders. And anyone in marketing always has need for a little brain exercise to keep the creativity and lateral thinking up to speed.
It's the river crossing IQ test. Apparently, it was introduced in job interviews for positions in a Chinese I.T. company.
OBJECTIVE: Get everybody across the river.
RULES:
1. Maximum of 2 persons can ride the raft at a time. 2. The father can not stay with any of the daughters without the mother. 3. The mother can not stay with any of the sons without the father. 4. The thief (striped shirt) can not stay with any family member without the policeman. 5. Only the father, mother, and policeman can operate the raft.
DIRECTIONS:
1. Click the people to put them on and off the raft 2. Click the red balls to make the raft go across. 3. You can make unlimited trips over the river.

When I first wanted to get started making money on the internet, I had dreams about making money on auto-pilot, while I sleep and seeing huge pay checks fill my mailbox out of thin air for doing nothing.
It was all about financial freedom!
So where am I today...Am I financially free? Not completely. I wish I could say yes...but the truth is, although I am heading in the right direction, I'm still a long way from it.
It was because I didn't understand what it really meant to be financially free. I thought it meant that I would have enough money to quit my day job, buy my dream house and luxury car, etc...
However, that's not to say I don't have any money to live comfortably and buy luxuries for myself and wife. I do, just that the way I earn my money does not let me be completely 100% free.
Today I learned the real meaning of financial freedom.
In this world, a person has two types of possessions; Assets and Liabilities.
We are led to believe that an asset is something we own that has a monetary value, Eg. house, property, etc.... and a liability is a possession that costs money to keep and maintain, Eg. Car, boat....business?
But, this understanding is completely WRONG!
It was pointed out to me in a new ebook I read today which talks about the infamous book "Rich Dad, Poor Dad".
I learned that an asset is something that MAKES you money, even if you leave it alone.
It's NOT something that only has a monetary value. Basically, if its not making you money, it's costing you money. So, it turns out that the above "assests" most us are led to believe are not assest, because they do not make us money.
Owning these "money making" types of assets will make you financially free.You will be earning money passively. You work once and make money forever. You will be free to make money without sacrificing your time, letting you do whatever you want with your time, and your money.
An example of a real asset would be something like owning a block of apartments and making passive income from renting out the rooms.
This is a successful business model, but it may take a long time to get going until you actually start making passive income. It needs skill and requires a lot of time on you part to check out apartment buildings etc.
Passive Income On The Internet!
The Internet is the perfect place for passive income streams. Real assets can be built here.
You can build automatic businesses by using a mix of automatically sent out emails via auto-responders, which promote and follow up on affiliate products/services that pay recurring commissions.
There are ways to set your website traffic on auto-pilot too by using a combination of articles, SEO and paid advertising.
We all want to earn as much money as possible while working as little as possible. The way to do it is by creating passive income streams. We can stop working and the money will still flow. I finally figured out that its these auto cash-flow, passive income streams that will set us financially free!
