My main niche I make most of my income from is the "make money online" niche. I have a nice sized list and it's growing all the time.
I don't annoy my subscribers everyday like some marketers do - I have an autoresponder to do that for me :) But seriously, I don't flog every new product release or offer I find just to make a quick buck.
I'm rarely found to be sending out more than 2 emails a week to my lists. And when I do broadcast an email, it is something that I either think is great value and too good to miss or it is something free (and useful because even something free can cost time). I usually get a good response because my readers know that I don't send them trash.
The light bulb went off in my head a few days ago with this realization.
If I don't send my subscribers things that will actually help them to make money online like I'm proclaiming, how I am I supposed to stay in business? My job is to help people make online, that means if I can't provide my customers the means to make money online, they will soon find someone else who does.
Let's compare it to a Chinese restuarant and I'm hungry for fried rice. There's a restuarant that claims they have the tastiest fried rice in town. I go there and the rice stinks! I'm not going back! Why would I? Sure the price might be right and the place might be nice, but if that fried rice doesn't satisfy me, I will keep searching for a Chinese restaurant that does.
The "make money online" niche is just as ruthless (I'm not a restaurant owner, so I don't know exactly). Afterall, we're dealing with a very touchy subject - MONEY! Money is valuable. People LOVE to make money and HATE lose it.
Consider this......
With this "make money" niche is, if people aren't making money from the products or services you peddle to them that are, where are they going to get money from for the next offer you hit them up for? It's a very fragile path you walk as a list owner in the "make money online" niche.
My point is, and this goes to internet marketers in any niche.....
If you are marketing to a list of subscribers, you MUST be providing them with what they want.
If you say you can help people cook the most delicious fried rice, then give them the recipe to do it. If you say you can help them make money online, then don't peddle trash asking them to empty their wallets. That will just make them lose money and that is the fastest way to go out of business.
As the Japanese business saying goes - "Kyaku wa Kami" meaning "The customer is God". Put your customers first and reap the rewards later.
The majority of others starting out trying to make money online, start with affiliate marketing. I did and it's how I made my first money online. Whether it's with bum marketing style article marketing or email ezine ads or paid to click or whatever, you have to admit it's pretty smooth sailing to promote other marketers products and get paid for it.
But there's s a problem with this type of affiliate marketing.
That problem is, you're making someone else rich. Sure youre getting money coming in and all sems fine. What you don't see is the owner of the website you take the sale of the product or service. You could relate the owner to your Boss in the real world ie. He pays you to make you money.
As in all business modes, online and off, it seems that the Boss is getting the long sweet end of the stick. And you're absolutely right if you think so too. Some marketwers pay there affiliates well. 100% commissions and a portion of the upsell if he's generous. Nothing to sneeze at.
Want to know were the real money is online?
The real money online is to own the website and run an affiliate program. Simple right? You have control of your business. You have control of the sales. You're the Boss! Ever since I started my own affiliate program with a $5 ebook that pays 100% commissions to affiliates, my income tripled over night and it hasn't slowed down since.
And the thing is...it wasn't all that hard to set up.
If you can set up a normal website such as a simple 2 page info product sales letter, you can set up your own affilaite program. You don't even need your own sript. You can use the affiliate systems at places like www.Clickbank.com or www.Paydotcom.com and pay a one time fee and you get your own affiliate program.
What's so hard about that?
I'll tell you the hardest thing about that, and that is taking action. Commit yourself just for a couple of days or a week if your slow and get it done. Focus and make it happen. You can do it and the best way to learn is to try yourself.
How many times have we heard it, and I've said......"the money is in the list"? But I'll never stop conveying it because having access to a targeted list of prospects is money in the bank.
It surprises me at how many people are trying to make money online without building a list. I heard a story of a guy that went to an internet marketing seminar and everyine was asked to stand. The speaker asked everyone who didn't have a list to sit down. Half of the group sat down! And they were serious marketers who had paid to go to a seminar! List building can be used in just about any online business model. For example, if you're and avid affiliate marketer, you don't want to let all the customers and interested prospects go straight to your merchant and in many cases, your competition. You need to be capturing them and building a list.
The way to build your list is with a trusted squeeze page. Here's another secret... Squeeze pages work in EVERY niche! Not just the make money online market. For a squeeze page, you basically need a website ie. domain name, hosting, autoresponder and some HTML files/images to upload as your website.

I just recently changed the design so I'm yet to report on how well it converts, but I have a feeling it will do much better than most others of mine.
Why is a squeeze page so effective?
It's simple. No...that's the reason. Squeeze pages work so well because they are simple. Think about it, on a squeeze page, there is only one choice for your visitor to make....opt-in for more information/free download or close the page.
One of my favorite famous quotes is "The confused mind always says no." And that rings true in internet business. I know that we want to show our prospects everything we have to offer but if you have too many banners and links, they will most likely end up clicking on nothing and forgetting your web page in a second.

Things are heating up on the "Next Internet Millionaire" reality tv show on the web. I'd sure hope the next internet millionaire would be ME, actually, but I never made it to the show.
Although that is not entirely impossible, what I'm really talking about is the reality internet TV show "Next Internet Millionaire" by internet marketer Joel Comm where 12 competitors battle it out "survivor" style try to advance to the next round without getting eliminated. The winner gets a Joint Venture deal with Joel Comm. Does that mean the JV will generate a million bucks for the winner?
I heard about it just after the show started and subscribed to the update list to get notifications of new episodes and planned to watch them all but flagged them off more times than not, watching only a few episodes now and then but last night I sat down and watch episode 11 where it came down the final 2 contestants! I'm glad I saw this one!
Sayonara Schrock!
The thing with reality shows is you get to know and love or hate certain characters. If you've been following the Next Internet Millionaire series, you'd know Thor Schrock and his controversial political style of getting things done. Well, I was a little shocked to see him get dismissed from the game in episode 11.
It came down to Charles Trippy and Thor Schrock. Jaime Luchuck has immunity from the task of the day of handing out free movie tickets. So in the elimitaion room was left Trippy and Schrock. I'm not Joel and I'm speculating here, but I think Joel chose Charles because he can bring something new to the table.
I liked Thor because he has great leadership skills and takes action and knows his game. The thing is, it's the same game as Joel Comm's. Joel, I feel, is looking to target a new market and can see dollar signs in Charles and the market they can approach together.
So who will be the next internet millionaire? It's now just down to two players. Charles and Jaime.....
